Adoption

2277339395When you’re adopted, you have so many questions…

Who am I?

Why didn’t my biological family want me?

Do I want to find my biological family?

If I find them, what happens then?

Will I always have a fear of abandonment?

What other unresolved issues will I struggle with because I was adopted?

I was adopted.

So, I’ve gone through my own journey of asking these questions and trying to find the answers.

I know these questions are hard to deal with and, sometimes, even harder to answer.

You are not alone.

I can help you through this process; I’ve done it for many adoptees over the years.

I’ll empathize with your situation, help you explore adoption-related issues, ask important questions, and delve into your fears and concerns.

2193652825Lily* wanted to search for her biological family.

She came to me a year ago, asking for help navigating her fears and concerns as she considered the implications of either reuniting with them or coming up empty-handed.

Together, we went through the process of reaching out to the adoption agency in Korea, sending numerous emails and doing a lot of waiting.

During this time, she struggled to discuss her journey with her adoptive parents. They didn’t understand why she couldn’t just be happy with her current family. She wasn’t sure they would ever fully understand her curiosity and desire to know more.

Lily and I were able to process the many emotions that came up during this process. She knew going in that it wouldn’t be easy or pain-free. There were times when she wanted to give up because it felt beyond her comfort level. With some empathy, support, encouragement, and feedback, she persevered.

Lily’s still searching for her biological family, but she’s now more open and expressive with her family about her search, and she has a deeper understanding of her identity and roots.

Like Lily, you probably know this won’t be easy.

But you CAN do it… and you don’t have to go through it by yourself.

I’m here to support you as you explore all of your questions, concerns, and issues related to adoption.
